You’ve heard the line. You’ve probably said it. And if not, you know it’s true: “The only constant is change.” Communities grow. Jobs end. Families grow and move. Seasons of life roll in and out before we’re ready. Even the routines that once helped us feel close to God—those trusted rhythms and long-held habits—can slip away with time. When something familiar fades, we feel the loss deep. And as we attempt to hold on, we wonder what comes next.
The believers who first read Hebrews understood that well. Their world was changing fast. The traditions they grew up with had become obsolete. The temple itself was “fading away.” Everything that once felt solid was shaking beneath their feet. Yet the author of Hebrews offered a reassuring word. God was not taking something good from them. He was preparing something far better.
This Sunday, we’ll look at Hebrews 8 and see why God sometimes allows important things to fade. We’ll see how loss can become a doorway to something far better, deeper, and more lasting.
Join us as we discover the hope God raises when familiar things fall away.
